About Devon Rex & Sphynx Kittens
Azzurro Cattery – Our Story
Azzurro Cattery is a New York cattery specializing in Devon Rex kittens and Sphynx kittens for loving homes across the United States. For more than ten years, we have focused on these two remarkable breeds.
Over the years we have gained extensive hands-on experience, developed a deep understanding of their unique needs, and built trusted relationships with experienced veterinarians and pet care professionals. Responsible breeding is about much more than appearance. Health, stable temperament, early socialization, and attentive daily care all play an essential role.
Our goal is to raise healthy, well socialized Devon Rex and Sphynx kittens with affectionate temperaments and a strong start in life. Each pairing in our program is carefully considered so that every kitten has the best possible start. Our kittens grow up in a clean, calm home environment where they receive daily interaction, playtime, balanced nutrition, and regular veterinary care.
From their earliest days they are gently handled and surrounded by people, which helps them develop into confident, affectionate companions. Over the years we have built a breeding program based on careful planning, personal attention, and genuine respect for these breeds. Nothing makes us happier than seeing our kittens become beloved members of families throughout the country.
At Azzurro Cattery, we believe in raising a small number of well planned litters rather than producing kittens in large numbers. This allows us to give each kitten the time, care, and socialization it deserves. Before leaving for their new homes, our Devon Rex and Sphynx kittens receive veterinary examinations, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, and complete health records. Each kitten also goes home with a health guarantee and three months of pet insurance. If you are looking for a reputable Devon Rex and Sphynx breeder in New York, Azzurro Cattery is proud to raise kittens with personal care, early socialization, and a strong focus on health.
Our Long-Term Commitment
Our long-term mission is to protect and improve the breeds we love. We aim to produce kittens with predictable health, personality, and structure so families know exactly what to expect. We work closely with mentors, veterinarians, and other responsible breeders to make decisions that benefit the cats first and always.
We stay connected with our kitten families, and we’re always here to guide anyone who shares our passion for Sphynx and Devon Rex cats. Whether it’s questions about care, behavior, or simply wanting to share updates—we’re here.
At Azzurro Cattery, these cats are not a business. They are our heart, our home, and our everyday joy.
Devon Rex kittens
Devon Rex kittens are known for their playful personalities, affectionate nature, and unmistakable look. With their large ears, soft wavy coats, and bright, curious expression, they stand out right away. People often say a Devon Rex feels like a little mix of cat, monkey, and dog, and that description fits the breed surprisingly well. They are agile, funny, deeply loyal, and always looking for a way to be close to their people.
Apply For Devon Rex KittenThe Devon Rex breed is loved not only for its appearance, but for its remarkable personality. These cats are active, intelligent, and full of charm. They enjoy climbing, exploring, chasing toys, and staying involved in everything happening around them. Devons do not simply enjoy human attention. They truly crave connection and often form very close bonds with their family. Many owners feel that once they have lived with a Devon Rex, no other breed feels quite the same.
One of the most distinctive Devon Rex features is the coat. Devon Rex cats have a short, soft, delicate coat with a loose wave or curl. Because the coat is fine and light, they may be more sensitive to cool temperatures than many other breeds. They often prefer warm rooms, cozy blankets, and soft places to rest. Their unique coat adds to the breed’s special look, but it also means their skin and ears need thoughtful routine care.
Devon Rex care is not difficult, but the breed does have specific needs. Their large ears may collect wax more easily and should be checked regularly. Their skin can also become oily in some areas, so gentle cleaning may be needed from time to time. Regular nail trimming, a clean home environment, quality nutrition, and routine veterinary care all play an important role in keeping Devon Rex kittens healthy and comfortable.
Like many highly social breeds, Devon Rex kittens need more than food and basic care. They thrive on human interaction, gentle handling, and early socialization. Kittens raised with daily attention often grow into confident, affectionate, and emotionally secure adult cats. This close early care helps shape the loving and devoted temperament that makes the Devon Rex so memorable.
For families searching for Devon Rex kittens, this breed can be a wonderful choice for those who want a cat that is playful, loyal, and closely bonded to the home. With the right care, attention, and environment, Devon Rex kittens grow into charming companions who bring warmth, fun, and an extraordinary sense of connection to everyday life.
Sphynx kittens
Sphynx kittens are known for their affectionate nature, playful energy, and strong bond with people. Their hairless appearance makes them one of the most recognizable cat breeds in the world, but what truly makes them special is their personality. Sphynx cats are warm, social, curious, and deeply involved in everyday life. They do not like to feel distant from their people and are often happiest when they are right in the middle of the action.
Apply For Sphynx KittenThe Sphynx breed is often described as outgoing, intelligent, and full of character. These kittens usually love attention and tend to be very interactive from an early age. They enjoy climbing, exploring, playing, and finding the warmest spot in the house when it is time to rest. Many Sphynx kittens become extremely devoted companions and thrive in homes where they receive daily affection, regular interaction, and plenty of human contact.
One of the most distinctive features of Sphynx cats is their lack of a traditional coat. Although they are called hairless, many have a very fine layer of fuzz that gives their skin a soft, suede like feel. Because they do not have a full coat, Sphynx kittens need protection from cold temperatures and do best in a warm indoor environment. They love blankets, heated beds, soft cat trees, and sunny places to nap. Keeping them comfortable is an important part of daily Sphynx care.
Sphynx care also includes regular attention to the skin, ears, nails, and overall hygiene. Without a normal coat to absorb body oils, the skin may need gentle cleaning from time to time. Their ears may collect wax more quickly than in some other breeds, and their nails should be trimmed regularly. A clean environment, proper nutrition, and routine veterinary care all help support healthy skin and overall well being.
Just as important as physical care is emotional care. Sphynx kittens are highly social and usually do best when they feel included in the rhythm of the home. Early socialization, daily handling, and positive experiences help them grow into confident, affectionate adult cats. They are often a wonderful choice for families who want a cat with a loving temperament, a playful spirit, and a close connection to people.
For families searching for Sphynx kittens, this breed can be an excellent fit for those who want an interactive, people focused companion. With the right care, warmth, and attention, Sphynx kittens grow into loyal, entertaining, and deeply affectionate members of the family.

Adopting a sphynx from Azzuro Cattery was the best decision I’ve ever made! My kitten arrived healthy, happy, and well socialized, and the staff is always on hand to answer any questions I may have - even now that it’s been almost year since he found his forever home. It’s clear they care about their cats, both before and after adoption. It’s also a plus that their cats are beautiful :) Highly recommend.

Kamil is awesome!! I began my search for my second Devon Rex after loosing my little shelter cat that was like a brother to my first Devon Rex. I was, and am still, sad but it broke my heart watching my little Sullivan looking for a playmate, so I began looking casually. You see so many scams and people with pretty kitties and it’s all a farce, so I proceed with caution and ALWAYS ask to FaceTime to see the kitten. Kamil obliged with no hesitation. I’m used to catteries with personal websites, and was a bit taken a back by his kittens just being posted on a general page for many catteries (you usually see this with scammers), but he kept in constant contact with me, always answered all my questions, and sent me some videos here and there of my little boy. I gave him a deposit through Apple Pay, which is also a bit different from other breeders I’ve dealt with in the past (sphynx and Devon), but he reassured me the entire time. The time came to pick up my little boy, and we drove from Buffalo, NY to NYC, with an overnight in NJ. I drove to Kamil’s address and had to double park (I mean….it is NYC 😆), and he came down and met us with my little boy in a carrier, and a bag with some kitten food and the litter he was currently using. We finished the transaction roadside, I thanked him many times and transferred my little boy from his carrier to mine and we departed. So to sum things up, he may not do things exactly like other catteries, but he is honest and I have a beautiful baby boy we named Oscar, which Sullivan is ABSOLUTELY in LOVE with, and it makes me so happy to see that! I would buy another kitten from Kamil (and might 😅) in the future! Enjoy my proud cat momma spam below! ❤️

I couldn’t be more happy with my new baby boy, Tomoe, from Azzurro cattery. I was grieving a loss and Kamil was so kind with all my questions and patience with my anxieties through the process. He came healthy, neutered, with his shots, and paperwork. My vet loves him and has assured me he is in great health. They were very reasonable with the deposit amount compared to most other catteries and accommodating with pick up time/method. All the pics and videos Kamil sent me along the way didn’t do any justice. 5 stars for sure!

Our kittens are raised in a clean home environment with daily human interaction, age-appropriate care, and close attention from the start. We focus on raising kittens that are healthy, affectionate, and well socialized.
Are your kittens socialized before they go home?
Yes. Early socialization is a very important part of our program. Our kittens grow up with regular handling and daily interaction, which helps them become confident and people-oriented companions.
Do your kittens go home litter trained?
Yes, kittens are introduced to the litter box early and are well started on litter training before they leave for their new homes.
How do I reserve a kitten from Azzurro Cattery?
If you are interested in one of our kittens, please contact us through the website. We are happy to talk with you about availability, the next steps, and our reservation process.
Do you have a waiting list?
At times, yes. If no kittens are currently available, we may offer a waiting list for approved homes who are interested in a future Devon Rex or Sphynx kitten.
Can I choose a kitten based on personality?
We do our best to help families find a kitten that matches their home and lifestyle. Personality matters, and we are always happy to share what we observe about each kitten as they grow.
What is the difference between a Devon Rex and a Sphynx?
Devon Rex cats have a soft, curly coat, large ears, and a playful, mischievous personality. Sphynx cats are hairless or nearly hairless, warm to the touch, and extremely affectionate. Both breeds are social and interactive, but they have different grooming and skin care needs.
Are Sphynx cats completely hairless?
Not always. Many Sphynx cats appear hairless, but some have a fine peach fuzz on the body. Their skin still needs regular care because natural oils are not absorbed the same way they are in coated breeds.
Do Devon Rex cats shed?
Devon Rex cats usually shed much less than many other breeds, but they are not non-shedding cats. Their coat is light and soft, so shedding is often minimal, though it can vary from cat to cat.
Are Devon Rex or Sphynx cats hypoallergenic?
No cat breed is truly hypoallergenic, and we do not make any guarantees regarding allergies. That said, many people with cat allergies have reported little to no symptoms around Devon Rex cats. Reactions can vary from person to person, since allergies are usually linked to proteins found in saliva, skin, and dander rather than fur alone. For that reason, this decision should always be made carefully and at the buyer's own discretion.
How much grooming does a Sphynx need?
Sphynx cats need regular skin care. This may include routine wiping or bathing to remove oil buildup, along with ear cleaning and nail care. Their skin should be kept clean, and they should be protected from extreme cold and direct sun exposure.
How much grooming does a Devon Rex need?
Devon Rex cats are fairly low maintenance, but their delicate coat should be handled gently. Overbathing or harsh brushing can damage the coat. Regular nail trimming, ear cleaning, and routine veterinary care are still important.
Are Devon Rex and Sphynx cats indoor cats?
Yes. Both breeds do best as indoor cats. Sphynx cats are sensitive to cold, heat, and sun because they have little to no coat. Devon Rex cats also do best in a safe indoor environment where they are protected from weather, parasites, and outdoor risks.
At what age can kittens go to their new homes?
This is often around 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the kitten's development. Kittens should have time for social growth, veterinary care, and recovery if they are spayed or neutered before going home.
Are Devon Rex and Sphynx kittens good with children?
They can be wonderful with respectful children. Both breeds are usually affectionate and interactive, but children should always be taught how to handle kittens gently and safely. Good early experiences help kittens grow into calm and trusting adults.
Do these breeds get along with other pets?
In many cases, yes. Devon Rex and Sphynx cats are often social and curious, and many do well with other cats and cat-friendly dogs when introduced properly. Careful introductions and a calm home environment make a big difference.
What supplies should I have before bringing my kitten home?
Your kitten should have a litter box, quality food, food and water bowls, a bed, toys, a scratching post, and a safe quiet area to settle in. Many families also prepare a carrier, soft blankets, and a heating option for hairless kittens if needed.
How can I choose between a Devon Rex and a Sphynx?
It depends on your lifestyle and what you are looking for. If you love a soft curly coat and a playful, elf-like look, a Devon Rex may be a great fit. If you want a warm, affectionate, highly people-focused cat with unique skin care needs, a Sphynx may be the better match. Both breeds thrive with attention and close human companionship.
